Vallecitos is located in San Diego, CA serving a high percentage of English language learners (over 60%) and low-income families (over 90%). David Jones and his staff developed and implemented the professional learning community (PLC) and response to intervention (RTI/MTSS) processes over a six-year period.
Vallecitos was recognized as a Model PLC School for its effective collaborative team processes, resulting in one of the highest rates of student achievement growth for Title I schools in the state of California. With over 6,000 Title I schools, Vallecitos was recognized as one of the top 100 schools in the state.

Nearly 70% of students met or exceeded the proficiency target in reading and math based on the state assessment, marking a growth of roughly 20% in both content areas over a three-year period.
