David Jones has more than 30 years of experience in education and is currently serving as a Solution Tree associate, supporting schools throughout the country with the professional learning community (PLC) and response to intervention (RTI) school improvement processes.  He is also a member of Solution Tree's Evidence of Effectiveness Committee for model PLC schools.

David has a wide range of experience as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent. David served as a master teacher, supporting college student teachers in developing their skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and effective teaching strategies. He continues to teach by modeling lessons and providing support to classroom teachers. He has been named the San Diego County Superintendent of the Year for small school districts, and the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education Administrator of the Year. He and his staff were recognized with the Title I Academic Achievement Award from the California Department of Education, placing his school in the top 100 Achieving Title 1 Schools out of over 6,000 schools.  Additionally, staff were awarded with the Model PLC at Work® school status, recognized for its exemplary work in establishing a high-achieving professional learning community. David was selected to present on leadership and improving student achievement for the Bill Gates Foundation.

David holds a bachelor's degree in aeronautical studies and an additional bachelor’s degree in education from the University of North Dakota. He received a master’s degree in education from Hamline University, St. Paul, Minnesota, as well as a master’s degree in educational administration from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota.
